Altar Rock Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

BlueRajah: I am archiving this cache to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. Please notice that I asked you some time ago to check this cache, and no action was taken. I had hoped that the cache may be replaced, or a note placed that you were going to go check on this cache in the near future.

If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the next three months please contact me, and assuming it meets the guidelines, I will be happy to unarchive it.
Thank you,

Geocache Description:

Coords are for a micro with coords for final cache that is a small ammo box. Elevation is 8,266. Park at: 40 58.653 N; 111 49.463 W.

CACHE IS NOW A MULTICACHE AND THE FIRST STAGE IS A MICRO. COORDS FOR FINAL ARE IN MICRO. YOU WILL NEED TO CHANGE THE COORDINATE SYSTEM IN YOUR GPS, SO YOU WILL WANT TO KNOW HOW TO DO THIS BEFORE YOU GET TO THE CACHE.

Look for the Altar--find the lichen covered rock on the south side of the altar; you only have to move this one rock to get to the small container. The micro container is about 2.5" X 4" and is a plastic waterproof container with a small parachute cord lanyard attached to it. PLEASE REPLACE THE SAME ROCK IN THE EXACT POSITION YOU FOUND IT. Please feel free to add small rocks to help this thing grow. There is a permamanent marker in the final cache for you to sign a rock with your geocaching name and date. If you would like to bring some large different colored permament markers to add to the cache, please do or bring your favorite color to make your mark. You may want to bring a lighter color rock from the hill just above the cache to write your name on. Most of the rocks in the area were pretty dark in color.

What a magnificent location and view for a cache if I might say so myself! I'd recommend going to this cache early in the morning or make this your last one of the day at sunset. Morning would be ideal to see more wildlife--we saw a huge 4 point buck in velvet on our way out.

If you look at the topo map, there appears to be a road that you can almost drive to the cache--the road has been blocked for a few years now. You will notice that ATVs have breached the blockage put up by the forest service. If you have an ATV, please don't be a stupid idiot and go around the obvious barriers--thanks! So, park at the prescribed parking location and the cache is a leisurely 1 mile walk along the road to the cache.
