Geocache Description:

Wedgewood Ravine, 184 Street in the west end of Edmonton

This cache has now been upgraded from a 3 to 3 1/2 difficulty. Since the cache was planted, there has been significant washout. There is one area which could give you some trouble, and this is what gives it the 3 1/2 stars. If you take kids, you'll need to spot them very carefully but it can be done. Once you get past that, this is a great family hike and is more like a 2 star difficulty. I took three children, ages 8, 8 and 7. There are a couple of other places you'll want to be careful and not fall into the creek but those are obvious. I'm told by a veteran of this part of the world that in winter, it a definite difficulty of 3.5 or even 4.

Don't forget the insect repellent! I had thought I forgot mine and was going to turn back, its really that bad.

The trail head is at N53 28.546' W113 38.438' which is on 184 street. You can't take your car there anymore as the road is closed. You could park close to the gates and walk the 500m along the road to get to the trailhead.

The cache is close to the river - I suggest taking the path that follows the stream.

October 7, 2007 - The cache container has been replaced and restocked. It's pretty stuffed so there should be something to temp you inside.
