In Vilas County, on State Property. By land, terrain is treacherous at times (rough logged area and wetland) Accessible only by foot or a skidder if you have one. By small boat or canoe, much easier. Snowmobile in winter at your own risk--watch for springs.
Probably one of the most isolated larger lakes in the area. Simply beautiful. The wimpy way in is by small boat, kayak, or canoe--but you will still work for this one. Put in at N46 09.112 W089 30.865. Again, if using a trailer, have 4WD due to a nasty launch.
For the tougher land lovers, you may park at N46.09.700 W089.29.908 only with a 4WD with good ground clearance. Otherwise park at N 46 09.691 W089 29.424 and hike in.
It will be worth it. I saw two loons, and two beaver near their house. Total silence and solitude.
By land, full coverage pants and waterproof footwear. Bug repellent in summer or you will hate it.
I recommend marking your vehicle as a waypoint. I would still be there if I did not have my GPS. Easy to get lost. I thought I was toast after losing my GPS not far from the cache site. The hike terrain is nasty. Either take a friend or a cell phone, because you could be back here for months before someone would come across your trail.
Cache is a 6 inch tall black tin can.
Start up contents: Bottled water, tape measure, toothpaste, trick gum, soap. Getting there is all of the fun. If you need any of this stuff, don't come all the way out here for it.
