Pop & A Paddle
This cache was hidden on Father’s Day by The Wheelygood Team, partly to commemorate our 1 year caching anniversary, partly because Pop got to do what he wanted to do and partly to highlight an area more people should enjoy. To get to this cache you need to first find Howland Island, once there you can travel by boat, foot or bike.
We hid Pop & A Paddle on the homeward leg of a nine mile paddle around the Island, you will not have to go that far to find it. The birding was fantastic and we went 5 miles between seeing other people, I can not remember that happening in a long time, anywhere. Howland Island is bounded by the Barge Canal and the Seneca River. Check your local library for a copy of William P. Ehling’s, 'Canoeing Central New York' for a complete trip description.
We filled the prezel container with items we bought and it was not from the $1 store...trade even! For the first one to find it there is a Wheelygood Team FTF "lammy".
Warning; There are plenty of mosquitoes and enough poison ivy to get yourself into an ichy mess also please be aware hunting is allowed. We were not bothered by bugs at any time while on the water.
Fast Forward to 10/15/07 The Geospatial Exploration Team relocated the cache to higher ground and replaced the original pretzel container with an ammo can. I would appreciate it if all future finders would tip their gps' to the Geospatial Exploration Team in your online logs.
