Donnelly Dome is a prominent dome shaped hill just off the Richardson Hwy., 20 miles south of Delta Junction. On a clear day the steep climb will reward you with a 360-degree view of the area, including the Granite Mountains, Delta River and the Alaska Range.
There are several ways to the top. The trail starting on the SE side at N 63 46.426 W 145 45.734 is probably the most direct route with the least amount of bush whacking. The cache is located a little over a mile from this unmarked trailhead. The area is known for wind so it is a good idea to carry along a windbreaker even on a nice day. The cache is close to, but not at, the highest point of the dome and it is well hidden under some rocks to keep it from blowing away.
Bonus: The Pillsbury benchmark (PID TT6355) should be near the summit making this a potential two-fer. I have not been able to find it but please post it if you are able to locate it.
