Geocache Description:

Great for a Sunday drive. Easy to get to. You can drive right up to it, which means it is handicap accessible!

New to me, this additional information is being added to the virtual, July 14, 2023.

"To honor his achievements, Michigan dedicated a 16-foot monument to Gray. The square cairn, which measures 12 feet on each side, is constructed of rocks and boulders submitted by 82 of Michigan’s 83 counties. Wexford County donated a 2-foot-square piece of rubber to commemorate a major rubber manufacture in its county seat of Cadillac.

Inside the monument, a sealed crypt contains resort booklets and brochures from every section of the state and various Michigan newspapers carrying stories of the dedication and articles of Gray’s promotional efforts. The monument is located between the towns of Kewadin and Creswell, near the 45th parallel on Cairn Highway." https://www.themunicipal.com/2023/01/the-45th-parallel-birthplace-of-the-tourism-industry-in-michigan/

There are two ways to claim this cache, you only need to complete one; method "A" or method "B". Do not including the answer or photos that show the answers in your log, encrypted or otherwise. That information will mean that your log entry is deleted.

A. You may take a photo with the monument, your GPS and you in it and email it to me or you may post it. Please do not post any photo with the answers in them, use the north or south faces of the monument to be safe.

B. Answer the questions. All question must be answered correctly.

1. Who built this and when? Others have had trouble with this question, the answer is on the east side (parking side) near the top of the item. Still getting wrong answers: The cairn WAS NOT built by Hugh J. Gray. It was dedicated to Hugh J. Gray - "Dean of Michigan's Tourist Activity.
