The placement of the markers started in the 1940s and final
completion in 1987. Artifacts, burial mounds, and fire pits have
been found along the vanishing trail. Most of the markers are
adjacent to current roadways, others are deep in the woods.

The coordinate information gathered through this cache will be
turned over to the Wexford County Historical Society after all the
markers have been logged.
