Geocache Description:

Located in Headwaters Park, just West of Route 8, on Wager Road. This multi-cache requires you to first visit a landmark which is an example of this caches name. From there you will use dead reckoning (or the advanced features of your GPS) to find the actual cache at a specified distance and direction from there.

LEAN ON ME by Bill Withers

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow
Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on
Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you don't let show
Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on
If there is a load you have to bear
That you can't carry
I'm right up the road
I'll share your load
If you just call me
So just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on
Lean on me when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
Till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

This is a great song with a wonderful message. Finding this cache will show you two examples of what this song is all about. The above listed coordinates (N42° 05.433 W080° 00.981) will take you to the first; an example of how a friend can share your load. Parking can be found at N42° 05.524? W080° 00.892?. From there, go to the trailhead at N42° 05.504? W080° 00.921?. There are two trailheads close to this location; one is very obvious, the other not. Both go to the same place, just across a creek. But, only one of them has a bridge over the water. Proceeding along the trail, you will cross a total of four foot bridges. No need to get your feet wet here! Along the trail you will see many gigantic old trees including American Beech, Hemlock, and Maple. The heavy tree cover causes some GPS signal problems and adds a star to the difficulty. When you arrive at the given coordinates, look around facing North. Do you see them? This is an example of having someone to lean on. Proceed on the trail until you come to a covered class room. Stand at the SSW corner. Now the going gets a little tougher. On a course of 268°, travel approx. 360 feet. You can do this by using the track plot screen on your GPS, by projecting a new waypoint (if your GPS has that function), or by compass and pacing off the distance. Do you see an example of what might happen if there is no one to lean on? That?s where the actual cache is. Found it? Congratulations! Please sign the logbook, trade items (if you wish, but please, no food), re-hide the cache as you found it, and log your find on GEOCACHING.COM. The total distance, from the parking area, to the cache is 0.33 miles. Most of the way it is a relatively flat improved trail. The last part is off-trail, in open woods, with only a little undergrowth. You will have to cross a small stream. For a more enjoyable hike, bug spray is HIGHLY recommended! The cache is in a 30 cal. ammo can, with a Geocaching.Com sticker on one side. First finder prize: an authentic Roman coin from the reign of Emperor Constans, who ruled from 337-350 A.D. Other original contents include: logbook with pens and pencils, the Frogman Travel Bug, homemade frogface critter, pin-on compass, handmade star pin, Erie Zoo keychain, fantastic plastic bubbles, troll, crayons, plastic tree frog, frog pencil topper, Presque Isle State Park patch, frog necklace, Geocacher pin, Geocaching,Com patch, frog stickers, toy race car, deck of cards, first aid kit, and a NWPAGeocachers bookmark.
