Geocache Description:

In the Wasatch mountains, in the vicinity of Payson Lakes and Mount Nebo. Altitude is 8055 feet.
Theme is radio engineering.

This cache is a short hike along a trail from the UARC Field Day site. UARC is the Utah Amateur Radio Club, and Field Day is an annual radio contest event wherein radio transceiver equipment is setup temporarily, including towers and large antennas for worldwide communications. This year (2003) we also had Internet access through the geosynchronous satellite Galaxy 10R and a wireless computer network, supporting a live web cam and web updates.

More information about Field Day and UARC is here: (visit link) (visit link) (visit link) (visit link)

Also related to GPS and Amateur Radio data transmission is APRS, the Automatic Position Reporting System described here: (visit link)

The theme of the cache is radio engineering and electrical engineering in general, although everything is welcome. Initial contents:
UHF barrel connector, small volt/ohm meter, panel meter, ARRL repeater directory, duct tape, post-it notes, wire ties, space shuttle patch, LED display, logic ICs, resistors, and a glowing Nemo clownfish.
