Lake Shastina Launch ramp in N California, off Hwy 97 or I-5, about 8 miles NW of Weed. Located at 2830 ft. A restroom and campground is nearby.
Lake Shastina is a man-made lake located in the State of Jefferson, off Hwy 97 or I-5, about 8 miles NW of Weed. The water belongs to farmers North of the lake. It was previously known as Dwinnell Lake. Lake Shastina holds a record for one of the largest crappy fish caught in California, and is a great place for trout and bass fishing.
There is another cache around the other side of Emerald Island, but it is only accessable by boat, or when the water level drops. I made this cache easy, since the other is difficult, unless you are a strong swimmer. Cache contains: A womens wallet/checkbook, Million Dollar Bill, USA sticker, God Bless USA bumper sticker, a Startac cell phone holster, digital clock, flower seed packet, light/magnifier combo, and a L-cheapo keyring.
