This virtual cache is at the heart of an important if little known World War Two memorial site that reflects the terrible human toll the twentieth century exacted upon Latvia. Today the cache location is open to the public in a state preserved area with open fields featuring statutes, a permanent museum exhibition, and the outlines of structures. It is about 18 kilometers southeast of Riga, Latvia.
NOTE: A "virtual cache" is a location (usually without a logbook). "Cache finders" wishing to claim this site should answer the following question: What is the aural symbol which ummistakably reminds you of what existed and was lost in this place of pain. Extra points for reporting the "frequency" of the aural symbol. The answer is obvious to a geocacher who successfully reaches the correct coordinates of the virtual cache. Logged entrys on the website should be accompanied by a separate email to the "cache hider", which correctly answers the question, to assure the 'cache seeker's entry is not deleted.
