As the name indicates, this cache is intended for toys! Our goal is to make a cache that's intentionally easy to get to and fairly easy to find. We'd like to encourage the younger geocachers who usually tag along with their parents. We've created a cache that they can relate to, that contains goodies they can appreciate. If you visit the cache and decide to exchange goodies, please leave either a small toy or perhaps something they could put in their piggy bank. Our little one (second Bison) really loves to find the caches and exchange goodies. She's looking forward to leaving some toys for others to enjoy. We hope this cache helps you get your little ones into caching!
Old Mill Park is a wonderful but lesser known hiking area in Jericho, VT. Some of the trails parallel Browns River and offer some very nice views. A very nice and quiet place.
To get to Old Mill Park, follow Route 15 North through Essex to Jericho. As you approach the bridge preceding Joe's Snack Bar, you'll see a gas station on the left as well as the entrance to Red Barn Antiques. Turn in and drive to the back where there's parking and the trail entrance. It's located here: N44° 30.301 W072° 59.984
The cache is a .28 mile walk down the trail. The trail is basically a loop with a couple of branches. We've attached a picture of the map to help you keep oriented. We found the walk to be quite easy and fairly level with one or two small exceptions. While there were not many when we visited, we can imagine there being a fair amount of bugs so make sure to bring some repellant.
The cache is an ammo can located just off the beaten path. Initial contents include a toy dog, yo-yo, 2 whistles, 2 puzzle games, a bracelet, smiley face guy, 3 plastic lizards, and a few other goodies.
Even though the ammo can is weather proof, we've put the contents in zip lock bags to make sure they stay dry with condensation and all. Please put the associated items (log in one, "stuff" in another") in their appropriate bags.
