This cache is situated near the regional transfer station, close to Fort Steele.
We discovered this area last winter when we were exploring. We named it after our cat Spot, who is quite a seasoned traveler. She gave her paw of approval for the locale.
You can drive most of the way. A car will do it, but we would recommend a high clearance vehicle should you decide to drive past the suggested parking spot. Once you have found the cache, if you hike up the hill, you will have a fine view of the Purcells and the St. Mary’s valley.
Turn off of highway 93/95 onto Eager Hill Road. Drive for two Kilometres and turn right (heading west). Take the first off-road to the right and either park (X marks the spot - look at the power lines) or continue up the hill. Let your GPS guide you to what you believe to be the “best” parking area.
This is a pleasant walk through the woods with a couple of higher elevations (but nothing steep) that offer pleasant vistas of the Purcells.
