This cache starts from either of the two parking lots at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitors Center. The key to this cache is getting on the right trail as there are a number in the area. It's in a 12” x 6” x 1” Rubbermaid container painted to make it harder to see. The trail has only minor ups & downs and is dry except during times of heavy rainfall so is very friendly to all caching types. There's no bushwhacking required so please stay on the established trail system.
This cache is located in the Mendenhall valley in view of the Mendenhall Glacier. If you are from out of town the starting point for this cache can be reached by taking one of the buses from downtown Juneau. You will be dropped @ one of the parking lots from which to start your cache quest. Once there, trust your GPS to get you going in the right direction & select your trail wisely.Following your selected trail, hopefully the right one, to the intersection @ approx. N58 25.057 W134 33.116. These coordinates are for a spot just past the intersection for a spot with a great view of the glacier & depending on the weather a great picture. Now back at the ‘Y’ intersection, stay to the left to continue on to the cache. Soon after you cross two small bridges you will arrive at the cache coordinates. Look for a small hill, the cache is just over the top, under a tree.
NOTE: Cache container has been changed to a 30cal ammo can.
