Stop, rest, and check out an important piece of early panhandle technology.
In recent years, the State of Texas has worked to improve that great American institution, the rest stop. Improved facilities now stand in Gray and Donley counties along I-40, as well as Hardeman and other counties along SH 287. These places strive to educate and entertain as well as increase driver safety. These are not your average cinder block boxes. This one has (usually) clean restrooms, a tornado shelter, and a surprise inside! Stretch your legs here and enjoy a slice of Texas Panhandle history. To log this cache, email or message us the answer the following question: What is the unusual structure inside the building? As usual, please don't post spoiler pics or answers in your logs, even if encrypted. Please feel free to let us know where you're from and where you're going. Enjoy, and drive safely!
