San Luis Valley View Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache is lcoated about a mile drive off of Hwy 285 South of Poncha Pass.
During the summer months a passenger car could drive the dirt road to within 200 feet of the cache, but if the road is wet or snow is on the ground the cache could be rated more at a 3 for difficulty in terrain. This cache is located close to a great view of the San Luis Valley and the Sangre De Cristo mountain range. It's common to see lots of Elk, Deer, and Antelope from this location.
To get to cache take the Dorsey Creek BLM/Forest Service road (South of Poncha Pass). Go east for .2 miles to the road relocation sign. Go right and follow up road for another .5 mile then go right up to top of hill. Cache is located in trees close to top of hill. Road might be closed temporarily at the road relocation sign due to mud conditions, but makes for a nice short hike.
