located just off a forest service road.
The fourth of four caches Nancy and I planned for the Gallatin Canyon. Portal Creek is a steep drainage that is home to Hidden Lakes and Golden Trout Lakes. Also trailheads to the spectacular Windy Pass area and Windy Pass cabin are in this drainage.
The site of this cache is a point where I spent a day relaying radio traffic during a search and rescue event for overdue hunters. I would reccomend 4 wheel drive to get up this road and as always be careful during times of wet or ice conditions.
Cache is an ammo box located in a rock cairn. The cache site is 3 feet east of the base of the larges rock near the coordinates. Enjoy this wonderful vista and mountains.
