erik88l-r: Cache is apparently gone, cache owner has not logged on in 1½ years, so I have archived it for him. Thanks for the past fun.

This regular cache is up a well maintained, easily accessible, and rocky switchback trail. It can be hot during the summer months so ample water, sunscreen, and a hat is suggested. Cache elevation about 388 feet.
The cache was so named because it overlooks a gliderport and sailplanes drift by on breezy days. I was reminded of “Tattoo” on Fantasy Island. Park in the public parking lot adjacent to the airfield control tower. Walk west towards the mountain staying to the right of the cabins. Once past the cabins bear left up a dirt and gravel road and walk about 5-7 minutes to the trailhead. (Note: edited 2/26/04--the cabins have been removed, just walk towards the Waianae Range mountains up a dirt/gravel road. About 50 yards in bear to the left and follow a dirt/gravel roadway to the Kealia Trailhead.) The cache site is about 20-25 minutes up the trail. Look for a olive-drab military ammo box (about 12"x10"x4") with a rock on top. (Replaced RubberMaid container 3/19/05 because of water leakage.)
Wonderful views of the ocean and North Shore from Kaena Point to Sunset Beach await you. Also visible is an abandoned quarry now filled with water and in operation as a fish farm. Watching the glider operations is also fun. A worthwhile hike even without a cache!
Cache contains, among other things, a miniature Yixing "Shui-Ping" clay teapot for brewing gung-fu style tea and three different types of high-grade Chinese tea. Also a disposable camera to take pictures of geocache discoverers. I’ll recover it later and post the pics on the web site. See attached pictures for more on this cache.
Feb. 19, 2004. Visited the cache and did some maintenance. Still looks good. All original items gone and all new articles in the cache. Recovered the disposable camera and will post the pictures on this site. New disposable camera left for future finders.
Mar. 19, 2005. Cache maintenance with Len and Soo Boo. Replaced RubberMaid container with military ammo box. Added new Yixing teapot, tea, and disposable camera. Very green and lush this time of year. Mark "The Cat" Charity Travel Bug Race #17 - "yorkstan" removed and on it's way to Malaysia with Len and Soo Boo next week.
