Roll Down the Rim Traditional Cache

After an exciting drive, the most spectacular view possible of the Creston Valley and surrounding area.
This drive is best done in a 4-wheel-drive or other sturdy vehicle. Some parts of the road are a 1-in-10 grade. Our Honda CR-V made it, but we would have liked a lower gear for the downhill trip. Don't try it in the winter.
From highway 3 east of Creston turn south onto the Canyon-Lister Rd. Turn east onto Whimster Rd., drive to the end, then follow the dirt road up the hill. Do not turn left onto the active logging road, or, later on, right onto the road into the Erickson water supply area. Be brave, hold on tight, and drive to the top.
Once you're there the cache won't be too hard to find. It's 40 paces from the sign marking the beginning of the Rim Trail.
Go early in the day so you'll have lots of time for ridge-walking along the top of Mt. Thompson.
