Geocache Description:

An old-style multicache (placed 2003) that can be done during an afternoon-walk in one of Austrias most beautiful parks.


Things to take with you
  • time (expect an about 9km walk which might take you about 3 hours)
  • compass
  • sufficient remaining daylight or strong flashlight (stage 10)
  • camera
Der Besuch des Parkes kostet gelegentlich einen geringen Eintritt (http://www.schlosspark-laxenburg.at/). Wer nichts zahlen will, betritt den Park beim Haupteingang (N48°04.015' E016°21.481) ab 18 Uhr, beim Erholungszentrumseingang (N48°03.452' E016°21.174') ab 16 Uhr oder über eine der vielen unoffiziellen Möglichkeiten. ;->
Entrance to the park is free at the west-entrance (N48°03.452' E016°21.174') after 16:00 and at the main entrance (N48°04.015' E016°21.481) after 18:00. Outside these times, the price is well worth it.

Eine Zeitlang befand sich hier eine Schule für Rhytmus, Musik und Körperbildung. Wie lange ?
The starting point is the old castle of Laxenburg which now host the Austrian Moviemuseum.
For some time, a school of rhytmic music and bodyculture was situated here. For how long ?

Moving to a position southeast from where you are standing, looking back, you should be able to spot several sunclocks.

Einmal angekommen gehe in Richtung NNO (circa 30°). Am Ende des Weges triffst du auf ein paar Wegweiser.
Once here, move in direction NNE (or about 30°). You will find some direction signs at the end of the road.

e = 7 previously: Anzahl der Wegweiser (Number of direction signs)

Von Angesicht zu Angesicht Satzzeichen zählen.
Count the punctation marks boldly face to face

Stehst du im (Kreis- bzw Ellipsen-)mittelpunkt ?
Are you at the center of (the circularly arranged) things ?
In Richtung SSW erblickst du einen Platz mit j Reihen von jeweils z Bäumen. (j < z)
In Direction SSW there is a square with j rows of z trees each.(j < z)
Innerhalb des "Kreises" befinden sich k Betonsockel
Inside the "circle" you'll find k concrete bases
In Richtung NWW erblickst du l Ziffernblätter.
In direction NWW you spot l clock-faces
Das Oval besteht aus n Bäumen (n ist ungerade)

This is a matter of perspective.

Blicke gen Osten durch die Bögen. Finde den Baum. Zähle die Fenster.
Look East. Frame the trunk in the arcs. Count the Windows.

Stage 6: N48°0p.0cb' E016°2l.clo'

q = Anzahl der eisernen vertikalen Gitterstreben pro Tor.
q = Number of vertical iron bars on a gate.

Stage 7: N48°03.657' E016°21.908' (optional)

Die eigentliche Stage 7 existiert nicht mehr, du kannst sie daher auslassen. Willst du stattdessen einen Abstecker zum Goldfischteich machen, hast du dort die Gelegenheit deine bisherigen Werte zu überprüfen.
The original stage 7 is gone, you can skip it. However, if you want to make a detour to the goldfishpond you can check your values from up until now.

In den Teich münden bzw aus dem Teich fließen kleine Bäche. Insgesammt sind es R1.
Small creeks go in and out of the pond. All together there are R1.
Der Grundriss des Bauwerkes in der Mitte hat R2 Kanten bzw Ecken.

R2=vollständige Ziffernsumme der Summe k+h+j+l+n+p+q+z

d.h. bilde solange die Ziffernsumme bis nur eine Ziffer übrigbleibt.

Stimmen die Werte überein, weißt du dass alle bis jetzt aufgenommen Werte stimmen.

Suche nach der Zahl t hinter Stein und Holz.
Search for the number t behind stone and wood.

Blockiert ein Bauzaun deinen Weg, zähle die dünnen Zaungitterstäbe (horizontale + vertikale) eines Zaunelements. Nimm die Einerstelle als t. Zudem solltet, wenn man genau schaut, die Hinweiszahl aus dem genau passenden Winkel, von außerhalb des Bauzauns am den Koordinaten nächsten Punkt aus, erspäht werden können.
If you find your way blocked by a construction fence, count the horizontal plus vertical thin fence rods of one of the fence's elements. Of that count, let the digit in the unit position (least significant digit) be t. You might also be able to spot the number from outside the fence.

Am Koordinatenpunkt findest du das Erste einer Reihe von Bauwerken mit Verbindungsfunktion.
In Richtung SW findest du weitere Bauwerke dieser Art. (Achtung Kompass ist hier evtl. nicht ganz zuverlässig)
Ermittle die Distanz (in Metern) zwischen diesem und dem letzten im Park am Ende der langen Linie.
At the coordinates is the first of several architectures with a connecting purpose. As you will see, more are lined up in direction SW. Discover the distance (in meters) between this one and the one at the end of the line.

w = die Höchstrangige Ziffer der ermittelten Zahl. (the resulting number's highest ranking digit.

Hier findest du eine lange römische Jahreszahl. Rechne sie in unser heutzutage übliches Format um.
Tageslicht oder eine gute Taschenlampe sind hier von Vorteil.

Daylight or a good flashlight might be necessary.
