Geocache Description:

Park at N 39°03.831', W 077° 30.661'. The cache is located in Two Creeks Trail Area, a new 19-acre site located near mile marker 30, on the north side of the W&OD trail between Goose and Sycolin Creeks.

Before we begin, an important caveat: You may want to wear bug spray and/or remember to check yourself for ticks once you leave the park. Seriously. This place is full of them.

My trustworthy and never-complaining assistant Rigelkitty tagged along amid approaching thunderstorms to help me place this cache. The cache is a .50 cal ammo box and is at least 1/2 mile from the nearest parking area, so you'll have to walk a bit. Take your time; stop at the quarry overlook along the way.

Two Creeks Trail Area has two sets of trails, one for walking/horseback riding, and one for mountain biking. The walking trail is recommended to get to the cache. (There are posts to chain up bikes if you have them.)

On the way, you will pass along Goose Creek. In 1849, the Goose Creek and Little River Navigation Company attempted to make the creek navigable by turning it into a 20-mile canal. (The canal ran out of money during its construction, and facing competition from the railroad, eventually dissolved in 1857.)

Keep an eye out for deer as you make your way to the cache! They like to hang out in the underbrush, especially around dusk.
