Geocache Description:

Emergency, Emergency……………….

Ellensburg is very proud of their hospital and so we thought we would show it off to those who might be interested. Of course we who live nearby take it for granted much of the time. It was built originally in the 60s but in 1998 the voters of Kittitas County approved a $11.5 million bond levy that paid for a major improvement project. As of 2002, we have 50,000 sq.ft. of new and remodeled space along with acquisition of needed medical equipment.

Of course Kittitas Community Hospital has all the usual facilities that a hospital has but do you know that it also has a health library that provides resources and services about current healthcare information? It is free to the public daily with a collection of health and medical books, videos, on-line journals, etc. for health and wellness information.

In the summer, one of the places we enjoy so much, is the memorial rose garden that is on the south side of the hospital. As you can see this is where the coordinates have brought you. Before you start hunting for the necessary info in this area don’t forget to smell the roses if they are in bloom.

From memorials in this garden you must determine the actual coordinates of the cache. Using the numbers you find here you will replace the last 3 digits in each coordinate in this form.
N 46* 59.abc W 120* 32.def

To find a, b, and c you must go to the “Wilfred Baker Memorial” and find the two end Roman numerals and the middle Roman numeral. Using these 3 numerals you can solve for a, b, and c. this way.

a = ¼ the larger end numeral
b = center numeral less 3
c = 1 more than the smaller end numeral

To find d, e, and f you must find the sidewalk memorial plaque that says “May God be with you” and look for the date that is in the form of x-x-yz. Using x, y, and z and the following formulas you will end up with the West coordinates.

d = 14 divided by “z”
e = “y” – 1
f = “x”

Now that you have the new coordinates of the cache
N 46* 59.________ W 120* 32.________ , go for it !!!!!!!

With regard to this cache, we have made it a THEMED CACHE broadly speaking. We have stocked the 8”x12”x1.5” plastic box with Get Well and Sympathy cards and small items to cheer. Come , bring a card or item that would cheer someone up and exchange it with one in the cache. It should be an easy cache to find if you did your math correctly , but it is in a very busy area near the hospital and clinics so you will need to be careful or it will probably be very susceptible to vandalism.
