Geocache Description:

THIS CACHE IS PLACED IN MEMORY OF THE ORIGINAL "LAKE LANIER" (GC21), ONE OF THE EARLIEST CACHES IN HISTORY. IT HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED BY ALLEN OF THE LACEY FAMILY.

This new cache is a multi-cache at Lake Lanier. Accessable by land. Park at N34° 11.473 W84° 05.230. Find the pebbles (clues) leading to Hansel and Gretel. Some of the pebbles are not your friends.

Hansel and Gretel:

A little variation on the traditional children’s story:

“Hansel and Gretel” is a story about a poor family. There is not enough food for them all. The selfish stepmother talks the loving father into taking Hansel and Gretel into the deep woods and leaving them there in hopes the children would not find their way back to their cottage.

However, Hansel was a bright boy who thought of dropping white pebbles along the path as they went deep into the woods so he and Gretel could find their way back.

As the story goes, Hansel and Gretel encounter a wicked witch who wants to do harm to the children. We must help them out of this trouble! We must find Hansel and Gretel (the cache) in spite of the witch!

---------------------------------------------------------------

In summer months, the tree canopy may make this cache much more of a challenge. Please re-cover the clues and cache carefully. Many non-cachers frequent the area.

A little extra help: the third stage location has very poor GPS reception. Look for a band of electrical tape around a Dogwood tree.
