As Honorary Mayor of Virginia City and a respected northern Nevada radio personality, I’ve risked my reputation by getting permission from the foundation director of this plot of land to place this cache at the posted location by assuring her that Geocachers are responsible hobbyists who will not disturb anything in the area. By participating in this cache you agree to abide by the rules posted at the entrance. Since one of those rules is to not take ANYTHING from this location, the cache is a log-only cache. Do not attempt to find this cache after dusk. You will be subject to arrest for trespassing between the hours of sunset and sunrise. Besides, you don’t want to be out here at night anyway. The Comstock is a wonderful Historic Landmark. It’s up to everyone who goes to Virginia City to make sure that it will be there for future generations to visit and enjoy.
The cache container is a magnetic hide-a-key box. Because of its size, make sure you bring a pen or pencil to log your visit.
Since the Comstock is surrounded by mountains, I took 7 coordinates for the cache. Each one different from the other. But, four of them were similar. I used the one that made the most sense. You might want to make sure that you bring the hint with you, as it’s going to be a tough cache to find.
Don't forget that you're in the desert. I always look under bushes and between rocks to make sure that there are no snakes with those scary-sounding rattles on their tails before I reach in.
