Geocache Description:

A standard ammo box located in an area with tremendous alpine scenery

The cache is hidden in the Yellow Aster Butte area of the North Cascades off of Mount Baker Highway (Highway 542). Drive Road 3065 (gravel) north from the DOT Shuksan Facility. Hike about 2 hours from the trailhead through incredible alpine country with about 2000 feet of elevation gain to the cache. Go about 20 minutes past the cache location to have near-360 degree views featuring Mt. Baker, Mt. Shuksan, American Border Peak, Goat Mountain, and Winchester Mountain. Take the "Mt. Shuksan No. 14" Green Trails map for details. The trail is well marked, well maintained and is accessible probably from early July to early October. Numerous small peaks await you, breath-taking vistas, abundant alpine flora.

The original cache contents included the usual flotsam and jetsam of knick knacks with a special treat for the first finder (a 1 ounce, pure silver coin from the Tulalip Tribe).

No need to trample heather to reach the cache. Please re-hide it well since this is a fairly popular trail.
