Located at Flora Dell Creek along the Wild and Scenic portion of the Lower Rogue River - Flora Dell Thomas was the wife of a local packer, mail carrier, and story teller. She was born near the current location of Clay Hill Lodge. The creek plunges over a 30' sheer wall into a cold, clean, and very refreshing deep pool of water below.
You can reach this cache by trail from Graves Creek Boat Ramp and it would be a 35 mile, multi-day, hike along the beautiful Rogue River Trail. You could also hike from Foster Bar on the same trail and it would be a 6 mile hike. Our preferred method is to float the Wild and Scenic portion of the river and do the short hike from the river up the creek. Permits are required to float this portion of the river from May 15 - Oct 15 and whitewater rafting experience is a must!
The ammo can contains the usual assortment of treasures, a log book and, of course, a first finder ribbon.
**Watch for rattlesnakes - check rocks before putting your hands in holes. Black bears can also be found on the trail.
