Geocache Description:

This cache is located off of Rt. 23 near Moccasin Gap between Gate City and Weber City. Cache is contained in a gold ammo box.

This area is commonly known as the Wilderness Road because there is a natural gap in Clinch Mountain here and it was used heavily in the 1700's by such pioneers as Daniel Boone and his party as they headed west into Kentucky. There are several historical markers of interest to read in the vicinity.

There are a number of picnic tables at this site and a kiosk with tourist information.
