The 1st of 12 caches placed broadly along the Ribble Way - this one is at the beginning at Longton.
The Ribble Way is a long distance walk of 69 miles, commencing at the Dolphin Inn at Longton at the Ribble estuary, passing through Preston, Penwortham, Ribchester, Clitheroe, Gisburn, and along the upper reaches of the Ribble via Settle, Stainforth, to its source on the moors at Gavel Gap, beyond Ribblehead in North Yorkshire.
I think the Way goes in the wrong direction. Surely it should start at the source in the hills and end at the pub near the estuary?!
Anyway, this cache is located just off the Way about half a mile from the pub carpark.
The whole walk is dry in summer but wet and very muddy in Winter. From the pub follow the Ribble Way west rather than taking the footpath south.
And there's a small catch if you don't go during the summer months.
Observe the attached photo of the ditch. This will feature in your hunt and fills with water when the water table rises. So perhaps wellies might will be the best footwear off-season.
Please make sure that the cache is invisible from the path when you rehide it.
