Geocache Description:

Located in an historic neighborhood near downtown Tucson, this cache affords a unusual experience for those interested in local history that is accessible to all.

The designated coordinates will bring you to the first of two sites, co-located on a small plot of land, just a short distance from the Tucson Convention Center.

The first site is "La Pilita," otherwise designated "Fountain of Youth." This old artesian well bears the following inscription:

Come fill the cup,
and in the fire of Spring,
Your winter of repentence fling.
The Bird of Time has but a little way
To flutter - and the Bird is on the wing.

1. What are the coordinates listed beneath the inscription?

2. What year was this memorial designed?

The second site is at N 32 12.973' W 110 58.473'. Here you will find an interpretive plaque pertaining to "El Tiradito," the Castaway. Thirty-five feet to the west is the only shrine in the United States dedicated to the soul of a sinner buried in unconsecrated ground. The many legends of the shrine's origin all involve a tragic love triangle, which resulted in murder. Many people visit at night and light candles in hopes that their wishes will come true. According to the legend, if the candle you light stays aflame all night, your wish will be granted.

3. In what decade did this tragic love affair occur?

4. In what year was the shrine dedicated?

To claim credit for this cache, you must e-mail me the answers to all four questions above, preferably BEFORE you post your find log. Please do not post this information when you log your find, since entries containing such information will be deleted.
