Ash Cache Traditional Cache
DocWMB: This is the third time this one has floated away, so I think it's time to archive it. That will let someone else come up with a clever cache for this wonderful island, and hopefully put it above the high-water mark!

Here's one that'll take a watercraft to get to, and perhaps a bit of bushwhacking to find a trail.
Placed this one on a canoeing trip with my Scout Troop last weekend. Should be a lot of fun and a nice trip to a cool spot on these sunny, hot days. Ash Island is a moderately large island in the Willamette River near Newberg and Dundee. There are some cultivated fields on it, but the cache is in the woods surrounding the fields. Easiest to approach from the upstream end of the island. Plan on about a 2 mile trip upstream from Rogers Landing in Newberg. The cache is a green Tupperware container, located close to a pretty nice deer trail that comes from and goes to nowhere. Replaced the cache 6/23/06 after it probably floated away over the winter. Initial contents include a few foreign coins, a Newberg Boat Club key chain, a Corps of Engineers key chain, some stickers, and a couple of the Nagrivator's beaded key chains. Have fun and just to emphasize what's in the logs below, wear long pants and good shoes, and take a walking stick to beat back the blackberries.
