The cache is located in the Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve, a 167-acre preserve located in Chesterton just off of State Road 49. The preserve is open 365 days a year, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. There are several miles of well-maintained trails. It's a beautiful place to bring the family or man's best friend. You may park at one of two places: for a longer hike (round trip is about two miles), park at N 41°35.156 W 087°02.167, in the Pavilion parking lot off of 1050N. For a shorter hike (round trip is about a mile and a half), park at N 41°34.937 W 087°02.534, along Village Point Dr.
Please be aware of the poison ivy (during the summer months)! While there is not any in the immediate area of the cache, we did notice quite a bit on the way there. Also, bug repellant is highly recommended in the summer months. The mosquitoes can be atrocious. Also be sure to check for ticks when you leave.
The cache is a green ammo box. The cache coordinates are an average of five readings. This is not a travelling cache, so please leave it where you find it. Happy hunting!
