Topside of a Beautiful tall waterfall, near 5 Islands Provincial Park
Beautiful waterfall for a family picnic (one of several in this area in the Waterfalls of NS book), but very irregular trail in to it (no wheels) This is one of those tall skinny type falls hidden in the backwoods. You used to be able to drive in to about 3/4 km then follow the trail so now you will need to add about 1km if you don't like driving with aspens scraping on your paint. There are ropes to get down to the bottom and the climb to the top is quick but challenging. We took his kids aged 5 and 6 in with us to the bottom, who are used to hiking.
Green ammo can with GEO-CACHE on the side.
Alternate route: just past the last house on the road, there is an ATV type trail goes pretty straight to the TOP side of the falls. It is at: N45 25.971 W064 04.241
This seems to be used for Maple Syrup in spring.
When you get to: N45 26.119 W064 04.741 start down the steep hill before the woods get very dense.
Note1: There are five other waterfalls in the 5-Islands area that are in the Waterfalls of NS book.
Note2: There were a lot of Poison Ivy plants in the area of the bottom of the falls. Be sure you know what they look like before you go in. June13-2004: They didn't seem to be there this year, but keep an eye out.
