Through the generosity of the DeHart family - Patrick County residents enjoy the outdoors all over the county and at the I.C. DeHart Memorial Park there is a Picnic Shelter, Baseball Field, Horse-shoe pits, Volleyball and new bike trails - but the most fascinating of all is the award winning Bog Turtle Wetlands and Education Restoration Project - home to dragonflies, frogs, toads, wetland birds, reptiles, butterflies - and currently wasps and yellow jackets who want to sting those who try to disturb their nests. A lot of effort has gone into this project and it is interesting to observe this wild overgrowth of wetlands in vivid action.
