minstrelcat: Visited today to check cache, and it is indeed unreachable due to renovation work. Well, unreachable to us two not-very-agile people! The cache is still there - we could see it from the bridge. We had planned to remove the cache before Xmas as last we heard the work was going to start after Xmas - looks like their plans changed and they got there before us. [:(]

We decided to archive as the notices say work is going on until at least March and who knows if the cache or its hiding place will still be there in the spring!

Geocache Description:

This cache is close to Hampstead Lock on the river Medway in Kent. The route is part hard surface, part grassed. You can park at Yalding Station car park which is free. This is a replacement cache in a slightly different location as the first one came to a sticky end.

Hampstead Lock

Hampstead Lock is near the pretty village of Yalding – locally famous for the floods! The cache is in an area which we’re fairly sure is safe from the floods. Yalding village itself is well worth a detour to see (if its not flooded, that is!)
