A short walk on Killingworth Land Conservation Trust property. Great views along the route!
This is a medium-sized white-topped Rubbermaid container. It is placed in honor of my new grandson, born August 4, 2003. Inside you will find a photo album - share of snapshot of a loved one! You don't need to mention the person by name, for safety reasons. Enjoy!
Park at N41.21.438, W72.36.825, on the Madison side of the bridge, north side of Route 80 - use the pull-out and please don't block the regional water authority gate.
Head down, across the walking bridge. In certain seasons the dam will be overflowing and the Nineveh Falls there is quite spectacular. Behind that dam is a beautiful resevoir, but you must join the Water Authority to hike the trails there. Also note the interesting bridge structure. Head to the right, under the bridge/road and onto KLCT property. You will see orange blazes. Watch for Poison Ivy! You will have just a short walk along the scenic river to an old tanning factory foundation. Can you believe they once dumped all the tanning chemicals into the Hammonasset River here? There is some ledge climbing to reach the cache.
