Geocache Description:

This is a fantastic hike up the somewhat oxymoronically named Prairie Mountain in Kananaskis Country. Park at the Beaver Lodge parking area at N50 51.934 W114 47.398. During winter closure of the highway, park at the gates. This hike is appox. 4 km long with about 700 m elevation gain.

Head up the unmarked trail just east of Prairie Creek. Go up, up, up, then some up, then more up, then keep going up, up, and then up. And then go up, up and up some more, and then - go up and up and up.....your legs will ache, your lungs will ache, but keep going because you will be rewarded with glorious 360 degree views. Keep going to the summit cairn at N50 53.306 W114 48.393. Then proceed to the cache.

The cache is a small clear plastic container, containing the usual stuff, logbook, FTF card and others.

See hike number 308 (or number 19 in Vol 2 of the 4th edition) in the Kananaskis Trail Guide for more info.

Enjoy the hike, bring plenty of water and walk carefully - particularly when the trail is wet.

****Please, Please rehide container well under the rocks.****

***Update - June 21, 2022 - Cache has been replaced with a matchstick container at the base of the tree.***
