Leita Thompson Park Traditional Cache
mtn-man: I talked to TRAM and it may be best to archive this one at this time. TRAM is going to go back and get the container. The location has deteriorated a bit and there are wires showing and such. This will open the area for a new cache.
Thanks Mack's Nav-5 for the cache!

Located just over the Cherokee/Fulton county border in Roswell, GA. Easy cache in a really nice memorial park. You can read about Leita and how she gave back to the community.
The Leitalift Foundation Inc. has donated more than 100 acres of prime, mostly undeveloped property to the city of Roswell Recreation and Parks Department.
While the City sometimes receives property discounted below market value through the generosity of benefactors, this is the first gift of this size and value to the park system in the city's history.
The 107.34 acres of land and a few buildings on Woodstock Road and Mountain Park Road are valued at about $20 million. The city bought the neighboring 34.6 acres last year and now has a total of 141.97 acres on Woodstock Road.
Leita Thompson bought the land in 1946 and made it her home until her 1978 death. During her lifetime, Thompson was an early female banking executive who helped other working women with retirement assistance, disability, housing and social and professional recognition. Upon her death, she donated her property to the foundation she created to carry out her work, the Leitalift Foundation.
The land will remain undeveloped for the near future, with the exception of a pavilion and gardens to be built in honor of Thompson. Zachary W. Henderson Architects Inc. have donated the design of the pavilion.
