Part one of an integrated series of multiple caches in the Sequim, Washington area.
This cache requires visiting several separate locations in Sequim. Data that is gathered at these locations will be used to locate the micro-cache for TdS Part 1. Some of this data will be required to locate the starting point of TdS Part 2.
The highlight of this cache search is a visit to the gravestone of Joe Rantz, who is featured in the book THE BOYS IN THE BOAT by Daniel James Brown.
While the terrain is listed as level 1, the actual distance from start to finish is about 3 miles; best traveled by bicycle or car.
The cache is a brown plastic pill bottle. Please bring a pen to log your find.
TdS Part 1 waypoint 1 is in Carrie Blake Park at N 48, 04.849, W 123, 05.094.
Carrie Blake was the wife of Charles Blake and was responsible for developing several ponds on their dairy farm. This property was eventually acquired by the Sequim Lions Club and finally deeded to the City of Sequim.

After admiring the engraving of Mrs. New Mexico 1955; walk "R" feet north. Locate the Olympic Gold Medal winner's marker. This is the grave of Mr. Joe Rantz, from the book THE BOYS IN THE BOAT.
