The Dogs Are Back Multi-Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions

Why do a simple traditional cache when you can multi-cache? The first container is a micro-cache that will lead you to an ammo can. Located in Albany’s Normanskill Farm park, the main trail winds it way along the park’s namesake creek. Terrain mainly flat, with a bit of a climb near the final.
As anyone who has read our cache entries knows, we love our two dogs, Beau and Polly. Both of them are lab-mix (translation: a large, black something-or-other) who we adopted through the Capital District Humane Association. We take them out with us every time we go caching, which is one of the reasons we got into geocaching. - “A tired dog is a good dog!”
So for our second hide, we decided to create a dog-themed cache. And what better time, than the dog days of August. Something for dogs, something for dog owners, something for anyone who likes dogs. Nothing against cats or other companion animals, who have also shared in our lives. I suspect we’ll follow up with a cat cache another time, but this one’s for THE DOGS!
Of course, the cache items are either for dogs or dog related, so bring something dog themed to trade if you can. To start this cache off, we have packed the following items in a camouflaged ammo can:
- Peanut-flavored Nylabone chew toy.
- A “Ticked Off” tick removal device.
- A couple of half-sized tennis balls for smaller dogs.
- A handful of “Barnburger” beef dog treats, shrink-wrapped.
- A red, small Kong bouncing dog toy, for small dogs.
- A medium rawhide dog bone.
- A pack of 25 baby-powder scented Doggie-Doo bags.
* After all, cache in and trash out
!
- A rubber fire hydrant chew toy.
- Several full sized tennis balls. Polly and Beau’s favorite.
- A Spunky Spaniel Teenie Beanie Baby toy.
- A special item for the first-to-find
- And, of course, a cache log and pencils.
Needless to say, we had to hide this cache where geocachers with dogs could bring them along. While the best access to the Normanskill is right by the specified parking area, there are several other cut offs to the creek along the trail. A nice area for an easy hike and even a picnic. Look for the great old barn and a bit o’ rusty junk along the way to the caches.
