Geocache Description:

Easy parking and a short walk to the ancient Holy Well at Holywell-cum-Needingworth near St Ives.

The cache is a micro - a small screw-top plastic jar containing a log book and little else due to lack of space. Its hidden about 7 paces in distance from the Well itself

The Well surround was built in 1845, and was recently cleaned up and trees trimmed etc. So it'd be a nice gesture to put a penny or two in the collection box on the fence

For centuries - even pre-Christian times - the water was reputed to have healing properties. I notice it runs from beneath the grave-yard, so might well do your tomatoes good - but you won't see me drinking it! Although it was used for domestic purposes until running-water came to the village in the 1940's....

In late June they have a 'Well-Dressing' ceremony, which sounds very colourful (and pagan!) More info on the area HERE

When you've finished, drive on past the church and down to the river - there were narrowboats to see today - there's a nice looking pub and beer-garden... Its supposedly the oldest pub in England, and is also Haunted!
