Geocache Description:

Gardner Oaks Park. Navigation Pinball.

PLEASE NOTE!! This is an OLD cache. Although it was correctly posted originally, today it would be considered a "Multi" or "Mystery" rather than a "Traditional." The designation cannot be changed."

This cache is located in one of Battle Ground's many undeveloped parks. Someday this land will be a beautiful place with lovely oak trees. The park is a little hard to get to because no access has been developed and it is surrounded by either fields, fences, or houses. I asked the city officials if it was OK to use the park for hiking, etc, and they said it is fine to do so. There is a No Trespassing sign posted near the city water well, so stay away from that area. Since the park is large, that is no problem. You can park at the end of SW 12th Street and walk through a gate into the park.

For this cache you need to have a simple magnetic compass. Most any kind will do, but the best ones have some kind of sighting device on them to allow you to site a course and accurately read off the degrees. I used an old Korean War vintage army surplus compass with a flip-up site and glass eyepiece to sight the courses. My GPS has a magnetic compass built into it but I find that it is easier to use the army surplus compass. If you use a electronic compass, make sure it is set to MAGNETIC, not TRUE.

The cache is medium size and dark in color. To find the cache you have to play "Pinball Oaks" and YOU are the ball.

Start at the coordinates shown above. Stand on the path next to the fence post in front of the ditch and get out your compass. Follow these directions to ricochet to the cache. The pacing is not really necessary since each heading leads to a tree, but pacing provides a nice cross check on your direction.

1. Sight a course of 242 Degrees and walk 74 paces to a "Small Oak."
2. Sight a course of 340 Degrees and walk 63 paces to the "Twin Oaks."
3. Sight a course of 202 Degrees and walk 51 paces to a "Lone Oak."
4. Sight a course of 276 Degrees and walk 68 paces to a "Crooked Oak."
5. Sight a course of 42 Degrees and walk 26 paces to a "Wounded Oak."
6. Sight a course of 270 Degrees and walk 52 paces to a "Roped Oak."
7. Sight a course of 323 Degrees and walk 54 paces to a "LARGE Oak."
8. Sight a course of 34 Degrees and walk 14 paces to a "Straight Oak."
9. Sight a course of 124 Degrees and walk 15 paces to the Cache

This is easier than it sounds. Please report the condition of the cache.

The park is rather slushy during rainy season, but it is normally dry in summer.

You are looking for a magnetic key locker. Please replace it correctly USING the magnet. This cache has a serious muggle problem so place it completely out of sight.
