Mulkey Creek Traditional Cache

Hike or bike through a lovely forest along the Mulkey Creek trail.
The Mulkey Creek trail is part of the Bald Hill trail system on the west side of Corvallis. Begin by parking at the Oak Creek entrance to Bald Hill park at N 44 34.573, W 123 19.575.
From the parking area, cross the bridge and take the immediate trail on your right. This gravel path is a public easement through the Diamond A ranch land. You will travel .6 miles along the edge of a pasture, then take a left on a gravel road. Stay on this road heading west for .7 miles, until it dead-ends at the trailhead. Take the 1 mile single track trail to the summit and find the cache, -an ammo can, near the furthest point of the loop. The distance is 2.3 miles, one way, with an elevation gain of about 600 feet.
The Mulkey creek trail is available to hikers year round, bikes and horses during the dry season: April 15- Oct 31st. I did receive a permit from Benton County parks dept to place this cache. Please tread lightly and respect our public land!
9/20 Update: The Sierra Club coordinates volunteers who help maintain this trail. I recently met Denise Nervik, whose name is inscribed on the bench you will pass on your trip. She mentioned that anyone interested in joining a trail work party can contact her at nervikd@cmug.com
