Geocache Description:

Adjusted Coordinates: N 45 26.062 W 122 38.795

As with all of our caches there is no need to bushwhack, trail-blaze or trample the local foliage. We recommend NOT doing this cache after dark, but during daylight hours our 8-year old granddaughter really had a field day exploring this unique island. We hope you and yours will too.

Elk rock sits across from 200 foot cliffs that plunge to the river. This site was once utilized by native Americans as a unique hunting ground, as herds of elk were chased over the cliffs and collected below by dugout canoes.

At low water, Elk Rock Island, and ancient volcano, in the Willamette River is a peninsula connected to the mainland by a 40-million-year-old land bridge - the oldest basalt in the region. This island is accessible by a rustic trail that passes through the city of Milwaukie's Spring Park.

The cache is in a round 1/2 gallon container painted.
Be sure you rehide the cache well.

Be sure you check our other cache on this island - RETURN TO ELK ROCK ISLAND (BONUS)(GCGPRW)

Happy Hunting and Good Luck.
