This cache is placed near to St Hubert’s Chapel, Idsworth with kind permission of the landowner. For other interesting activities in the area visit this website at
http://www.strawberryfayre.com/index.htm
The Chapel is dedicated to St Hubert who, according to legend, was converted while out hunting ( Geocaches ? ) on Good Friday. It is well worth a visit to see the 14th Century wall painting on the North wall, as well as many other historic features.
After heavy periods of rain in Winter, the Lavant flows through the valley and can cause severe flooding although this is difficult to envisage on a pleasant summer’s day.
It is also reported that there was a village here from about the 9th to the 14th centuries.
There is car parking near the above co-ordinates although it could be busy on Sunday mornings between 9 and 11.
Finding the cache involves a circular walk just under one and a half miles.
