Orange loop by the skyfreighter Lighthouse Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

-allenite-: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email) within the next 30 days, and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

No bushwacking required - bikes welcome. Visits to this area are not allowed after 10 PM as posted. Some spots can and will get muddy after heavy rain fall or snow melt.

There are 2 ways to this cache. One is a nice 2.5 mile hike. The other is a shorter .9 mile walk. Both were measured from the parking area. (measured as a round trip)
You are looking for a 4" x 3" quad lock clear geocaching container that is well hidden and out of sight. Please cover it real good from all sides as it can be seen from a winding trail from all sides.
The name of this cache - well, if you are not familiar with this area, visit after dark, that will explain the latter part of the name. The first part will make sense upon your visit.
This is my first geocache hidden, I hope you enjoy it, Sam
(UPDATE 8-28-03: to avoid possible bushwacking, travel several yards-maybe 20- beyond the point where your GPS unit indicates a hard left turn, then continue on your adventure.)

UPDATE: August 2005
The following "Warning" no longer applies as a bridge has been built over the creek one used to have to pass over one way or another. I will leave it here for your reading pleasure though :)

WARNING: SPOILER -SORT OF
(UPDATE 3-20-04: as the weather gets wetter, one may find it quite difficult to get past the small creek / deep ditch. Here is a way to avoid doing so, but it will make the trip longer. Turn left at the creek and follow it until you go past the cement tile that the creek flows through - now don't wander onto the cement runway or you'll be in a world of trouble!!!! Anyhow, turn right and go to the corner of the woods where you will find a big old cement tile. Go through the brush 3 or 4 feet and there is a trail. Go right on the trail - you will be heading back to where you came from, except on the other side of the creek. If you turn left on the trail at the cement tile you will be taking the longer hike. I thought I'd pass this along as a couple days ago I went to check on my cache, and started down the slope real slow, and hit the bottom doing about a hundred. Yep - soaked to the knees and a butt full of muck. I did however get the side of one shoe to touch the board crossing the creek, before I became a human anchor. All in the name of a hobby - I'll keep telling myself that!!!!)

UPDATE 2 on 6-16-2005. - When I first placed this cache, I had the cache up inside a leaning hollow dead tree. The cache was about 3 feet up inside the tree held in place by a stick. I was really cool. I know it got moved a few feet away inside a hollow log laying on the ground. There is no longer any trace of the dead trees. Interesting. Due to my health I rarely go back there. I went back a few months ago to put in a new log book and put butt loads of goodies in the cache, but could not find it. The hollow leaning log was totally gone due to rot. I looked around the area but could not fine my own cache. I believe its been moved several times due to rotting away of hiding spots. I'll have to go back soon and get the new coordinates.
darn, I'll be embarrassed if I don't find it. Sheesh.

UPDATE 12-12-17,,,,New container, logbook, plenty of goodies, new hiding spot too.
