While waiting for Fort Clinch to open, I decided to hide a couple. I've had a regular cache rolling around in my back seat for weeks but never came upon a good place for it. I can't say I really expected to find one here in the middle of this small city.
I caught the sign while driving toward downtown and drove in to have a look. The place is somewhat overgrown, but I'm sure the butterflies prefer it that way. If you start at the right spot you'll know you are in the right place and there will be a place to park. There is another entrance, though I can't vouch for it.
You may come to spots in the trail that appear to be the end but it's not. Just charge through and a few feet in the trail reappears. I didn't see a single butterfly but I was there early and butterflies are notoriously late sleepers. Really, they are. So if you want to see a bunch you might want to go in the late morning or early to mid afternoon. The trail is not long and there's lots of shade (and satalite interference).
