Wolf Pits Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dirtnapper: Due to the fact that this has been stolen, large ammo can and contents, I will no longer replace this one as well as the others in the past that were vandalized or stolen. A few unscrupulous people take the fun out it.

Geocache Description:

Along an old cattle trail

Update:Cache was moved slightly today to a new location in the same area, just more secure.
Approaching the cache area, watch for the wolf pits – see pics “Wolf Pits. During the 17th century wolves were a frequent danger to the lives of the people and their livestock. Today in the northern section of Lynn Woods there still exist narrow, rectangular, stone-lined holes, thought to be the remnants of the wolf traps.

"There is an old folk tale of an Indian woman falling into one of these baited traps and finding herself face to face with an incarcerated wolf. According to the story, they spent the night cowering in their respective corners in terror until help arrived in the morning.” Friends of Lynn Woods.
I checked this: 7/31/14..left some new swag.
