THE RHYME
OF THE MODERN TRAVELER
Forsake
the Latitude. The Latitude is slight.
Stake your bet on the Longitude. The Longitude is right.
Don’t
be a FLAKE.
TAKE a rest from your ACHES.
Put on your BRAKE.
Take a BREAK.
Don’t
make a MISTAKE.
MAKE a CAKE to PARTAKE.
Grill a STEAK.
Wash it down with a SHAKE.
Don’t
step on a SNAKE.
FORSAKE all that is FAKE.
Observe the WAKES.
Enjoy the LAKE.
This
cache is on the North bound side of I85 at a South Carolina rest stop that has
a beautiful view of Lake Hartwell. There are many picnic tables in the midst
of a pine grove. This is a wonderful place to stop and relax not to mention
a great place for North Bound Travel Bugs.
The
theme of the cache is poetry with an emphasis on things that rhyme with lake.
So the things you leave need to rhyme with lake or at least have some “pun”
with your words. Place your item in the 1 gallon rectangular Tupperware box
and place one line of a rhyme in the log and on the website.
“I placed a knife
so you may cut your CAKE while sitting by the LAKE.”
Further
Information:
1. In the second
line of the famous poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge are two numbers. Add these
numbers together and then add to the 2nd digit after the decimal in the bogus
cache latitude and “carry over” to the 1st digit after the decimal to obtain
the true latitude of the Cache.
2. Look at the picture,
“Guests are met and the feast is set.” If you line up the two tables you will
be able to log this cache at a spot past the 2nd table on a bearing of
45 degrees. These are the only two tables that have this alignment.
