Looking Back Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

dohertys: The shelter that hid the cache is undergoing some extensive renovations and the existing cache is gone. We thought about taking the listing down for a couple of weeks while the work is completed and bringing it back online for its 20 year anniversary. However the time seems right to let this last active Looking micro pass into history. This opens the area up for a new cache or perhaps a lower impact Adventure Lab stop.

We will shift the clue to Look No More to let it continue.

Geocache Description:

A great little look out with a slice of Brisbane history

The cache is located at a little lookout in the south western suburbs of Brisbane. It is a self contained history lesson of an early pioneering family. It is also an excellent lookout with views all the way back to the city and out to the mountains in the west.

Note that there has been some restoration work going on at GZ, so accessing the cache may be a little more difficult than the rating.

The cache is a 4mm DAT container about 6cm x 8cm x 1.5cm. The cache contains

  • Mini Log Book and stash note
  • Pencil (but no sharpener)
  • $2 scratchy
  • Letter and number

The theme of Looking Back is in acknowledgement of the Francis family.

This cache is one of 8 micros in the Looking series. Each of these caches contains a letter and a number that is required before you can do the Look No More cache. Just make sure you take note of the letter and the number when you do this cache. Just don't publish any details in your logs

One oddity with this cache is that some years after it was placed, another cache was put there. It was managed under a different geocaching website. People have been inadvertently finding this cache which does not have the clue for Look No More. Presumably the opposite has been happening as well.

To avoid any disappointment at not locating the clue, the letter and the number can also be found on at one the grave headstones. You need to find the one belonging to Reverend Timothy Jones fourth son. The letter is the first faded letter in the the son's first name. The number is the number of letters in the country of the Vicar's parish.

Happy Caching!
