A virtual on the top of Longs Peak. There are several signs, strange rocks, etc. up there. These coords are for something on the summit. Be forewarned - this is one difficult and strenuous climb. You should be in very good shape and not afraid of heights. To get to the base of the peak requires a hike of at least 4.5 miles, all uphill. Then the fun begins - the last 1.6 miles is pretty much a straight up scramble, there is no more hiking. It is hand over hand, all fours work for 2000 or so vertical feet. Summit is 14,259 feet (it was re-surveyed last year and they added 4 feet to the official height!). Just to add to the fun you should be off the peak, off the mountain in fact, in time to avoid the daily storms. You do NOT want to be here in the lightning and hail. Most people start at about 4am so they can beat the storms.
So why bother ? To say you did it. The view is unbelievable - you can see forever ! And to claim this cache (the real highlight).
Note - no special equipment is required, just stamina.
Have fun! Trailfrogs
